Week in the Life 2013 Album

I took all those photos I took during Week in the Life and put together an album I’m really happy with and honestly love how it turned out! I decided to make my album a mix of 12×12 layouts and pocketed pages. I used a couple different styles of Project Life pages, and I had never used them before. I’ve scrapped with pocketed pages before, but not quite like this. It was sort of overwhelming at first and took me a while to figure out exactly what I wanted to do and which pictures I wanted to use. In the end it worked out better for me to use a couple different styles and to have some days have more pages than others. It worried me at first, but it looks totally fine.

I cut out some phrases, the days of the week, and a card for each day of the week with my Silhouette SD. I did a layout for each day with an 8×10 photo, plus one more layout for each day of whatever photo combination I felt like. I printed most of my photos at Costco and then printed the rest at home with my Selphy.

I used a Project Life Dear Lizzy album I bought 60% off at Michaels.

I made a cover layout:

The small stickers at the top say “a week in the life.”

Here’s the rest of the album There are 41 pages total!

I also made an end page:

I used only a few different embellishments, and the papers weren’t all the same line, but I thought worked together quite well: Dear Lizzy Neapolitan 12×12 paperEveryday Eclectic paper by Allison KreftToday’s Story collection kit by Allison Kreft, and We R Memory Keepers Albums Made Easy Simply Happy Journaling Cards. The colors worked really well with the photos!

This was a great project but I am relieved to be done. I think our family will appreciate this a lot in the future, especially Serena some day. 🙂

Thanks for looking at all of this, and let me know if you have any questions!

Instagram update

Lately I’ve seen a few people talking about what they are doing with their instagram photos. I thought it would be fun to find a cool way to display them, but hadn’t gotten around to anything. One day I was walking down my hallway and saw my printers tray and realized I could easily update it with some of my instagrams! It had actually been a while since I had updated it. I made some mosaics of 6 photos in 1 and ordered them as 4×6 prints, giving me 2×2 photos. I cut those apart and then took half an hour and updated my tray. I didn’t replace all the photos. I left some of the old ones in. Trevor already told me he didn’t want me to fill it with photos of Serena because he loves seeing all the photos of our friends and family in there. I actually originally saw this idea on Ali Edwards’s blog and hers was filled with photos of her kids! Ha! Hopefully as I take more instagram photos and get some more of friends and family I can print more and change out some more photos. I like it so far though!

Project 365: It was a good year!

Today is my last day of Project 365!

My first photo:

My last photo:

My friend Becca inspired me to try it. I had seen it all over online but wasn’t sure I could pull it off. Once I saw she was giving it a shot I thought I might as well try too! So thanks to Becca for inspiring me to try Project 365! I also want to thank the people who encouraged me along the way, especially my family (and I’m so excited that you are doing Project 365 now Dadio!), Trev, Britta, Scott & Emily, my cousin Jen, and Ariah. Thanks for motivating me to keep going. I actually never missed a day. There were a couple of days that I almost forgot, but always managed to find something to photograph!

You can see all the photos here.

I documented my life at age 30, so I started on my 30th birthday last year. During the time I did the project I worked 2 temp jobs, celebrated 6 years of marriage with Trevor, went camping twice with cousins, had many visitors, went to Phoenix, AZ and Huntington Beach, CA, and much more. Taking the photos helped me to see each day with a different perspective and to appreciate all the events and even the little things that much more. I hope that it made me a better photographer as well!

Favorite Photo: Day 269

Least Favorite Photo: Day 189

Hardest to shoot: Day 87

Most fun to shoot: Day 201

Best day: Day 203

Worst day: Day 149

In the 365 photos there are 121 friends and family members!

There are 9 dogs! Of course our cockapoo Cash Howard is in lots, especially because sometimes he’s just in the background. He’s in a grand total of 16. But the other dogs included were Kirby & Dakota Dwyer, Kia Pedersen, Barkley Shaw, Brody Pedersen, Nellie LeDuc, Nemesis Kraft, and Ralphie Rymsza.

The photos are taken in 20 cities/towns and then various suburbs: Minneapolis/St. Paul, Duluth, Fergus Falls, Dent, Alexandria, Moorhead, Cannon Falls, New Prague, Almelund, Miltona, and Perham, MN; Sheboygan, Madison, and Montello, WI; Fargo, ND; Waverly, IA; Fountain Hills and Phoenix, AZ; Huntington Beach and Laguna Beach, CA.

I took a photo of our house in each season, but wish I would have gotten one in actual Spring.

17 photos involve my gardening!

50 photos include food or beverage or are taken at a meal!

8 involve celebrating birthdays!

3 have something to do with weddings.

11 photos have me in them.

It was fun and I highly recommend it to anyone else who is interested. Give it a try!

I got my first roll of film developed from my lomography colorsplash 35mm camera. Here are a couple of my favorites:

Can’t wait to see what else I can get! Fun fun.

Keeping Awake – The Innocence Mission
hearing your voice in the blue light,
calming people in the house,
traveling upstairs –
good to be there
now, right now

Oh, I’m near to sleeping, I’m keeping awake.
Oh, I’m near to sleeping, I’m keeping awake,
hearing your voice in the house, in the house,
hearing your voice in the house

Under those trees we will all be
sitting, blankets down.
It’s tomorrow, yes it is.

My room is held in someone’s arms,
my bed is held in someone’s arms.
I am-I’m held now
In the house,
in the heart of paper vines,
Junie runs into her room
next to mine, Dancing.
And we are all in for the night.
Talking is coming,
is coming up over the stairs.
